Škoda introduces added value to its highly awarded Octavia with 1.0 TSI e-TEC mild-hybrid powertrain

  • Škoda's global best-seller, the Octavia, is now available in Singapore with a Cat A-friendly 1.0 TSI e-TEC mild-hybrid powertrain
  • The switch to the 1.0 TSI e-TEC powertrain brings improved combined fuel consumption at 4.3 litres/100km and lower CO2 emissions at 98 g/km

Singapore - Škoda's e-TEC mild-hybrid powertrain made its debut in the fourth generation Octavia and is now even more suited to the Singapore market with a 1.0 TSI e-TEC mildhybrid powertrain.

The three-cylinder 1.0 TSI has an output of 81 kW (110 PS). It also features a turbocharger with variable vane geometry and operates using the fuel-efficient Miller cycle, in which the maximum torque is available 35 per cent earlier than in conventional processes. Coated cylinder liners increase engine efficiency, while an injection pressure of up to 350 bar ensures lower hydraulic losses and a reduced fuel delivery rate.

Fitted with a 7 speed DSG, the 1.0 TSI makes use of a 48-volt belt-driven starter motor and a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. This makes it possible to recover energy during braking and store it in the battery, support the combustion engine by providing it with an electric boost, or coast with the engine completely switched off.

More importantly, the 1.0 TSI e-TEC powertrain boasts improved fuel consumption at 4.3 litres/100km (versus 5.3 litres/100km in the 1.5 TSI e-TEC) and lower CO2 emissions at 98 g/km (versus 122 g/km in the 1.5 TSI e-TEC).

Elegant and dynamic proportions

The front apron and razor-sharp headlights are a visual delight and feature LED technology for low beam, high beam and daytime running lights as standard. The tail lights, brake lights and fog lights make use of LED technology as well. Sculptural elements, precise lines and modern, clear surfaces lend the car an authentic as well as dynamic appearance, creating a high-quality look.

Outstanding ergonomics, features and comfort

In addition to the free-standing, central screen and high-quality materials, the features a multi-level dashboard and two-spoke steering wheel. A novel touch control slider below the central display, one-touch keys for important vehicle functions as well as buttons and knurled scroll wheels on the multifunction steering wheel improve ergonomics and simplify operation.

As with all Škoda models, the Octavia boasts impressive passenger and boot space at 600 litres with back seats up and 1,555 litres with them folded. Besides segment-leading cargo capacity, other smart comfort features such as Škoda's Virtual Pedal, an electric tailgate, mobile phone pockets on front seat backs, and umbrella compartments in the front doors - which are typically found in larger, more expensive cars - are available.

Modern infotainment and innovative assistance systems

The Octavia, equipped with Škoda's latest generation infotainment system, continues to offer supreme connectivity for added convenience. Features such as Škoda's Virtual Cockpit, a digital and individually customisable instrument panel, Wireless SmartLink and smartphone charging technology, come standard.

Škoda has also fitted the Octavia with numerous safety and comfort features: Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist and Exit Warning

Smart suite

Every Skoda purchased through Škoda Singapore comes with a 5-year factory warranty, 5 years of 24-hour roadside assistance, 3-year servicing, 1-year road tax, solar film, and front and rear invehicle cameras.
